• Have your skills and experience recognised and certified

    Recognition of Prior Learning

  • Did you know you can achieve 100% credit in Australian qualifications by having the skills and knowledge you have already attained through work or life experiences recognised? Be guided through professional competency conversations over 6 days as you work from our Ubud, Bali 'office' and leave with a recognised qualification.

Our morning sessions focus on a competency conversation against a unit of competency. Competency conversations are a professional conversation between the leader and an individual, or a small group of individuals that enables you to share your experiences, skills and knowledge, and the outcomes of your self-reflection against the competency criteria. Conversations are a holistic approach to assessing knowledge and understanding and are used not only to collect evidence, but to help you identify workplace documents that you can collate into an evidence portfolio for assessment.

Conversations align to the units, but you can expect to be covering a theme a day, such as:

    • Effective leadership
    • Strategic and Operational Planning
    • Managing a Team
    • Managing Risk
    • Communication
    • Emotional Intelligence
    • Diversity in the workplace
    • Managing people
    • Running a small business

After lunch we head out for a community or cultural activity. These are opportunities to explore and learn more about the life of the Balinese, to be be introduced to local leaders and community projects, and to ignite your innovation and creativity through site visits to unique places such as the Green School Green Village (amazing bamboo architecture), and Hubud, one of the foremost co-working spaces in the world.

Before dinner there is time for reflection, preparation for the next day's conversation, one on one mentoring, networking, or perhaps a cocktail by the pool or a massage.

At the end of the 6 days, your assessment portfolio is submitted to our sister training organisation in Australia, Learning Options, for certification and credential.

  • Program Features

    Small Group

We limit our places to 8 participants to ensure that you have opportunity to maximise your outcomes through ready access to your assessor and the support they can offer, and increased ability to contribute to professional conversations.

    Time & Opportunity

Skills recognition requires reflection and self assessment. What do I already know? What do I still need to learn? What evidence do I have to show that I am already competent? Removing yourself from your day to day job will give you the space you need to do this. And it's a pretty terrific space to do it in!

    Assessment & Reflection

A typical RPL process is paper based - you submit a portfolio that you have spent hours and hours creating, only to have it assessed at the other end, often with no personalised feedback. Our process focuses on the conversation. We learn from each other. And the project leader is also your assessor so you can be comfortable that after 8 days the assessor has exactly what they need to make a decision. No going back and forth continuously asking for more evidence.

    Global and cultural competencies

Simply locating you in a new environment exposes you to new opportunities, thoughts and ideas. Participate in activities that help us learn to communicate effectively within and across cultures, to function in multiple and diverse environments, and to adapt to the continuously changing global society through an attitude of awareness, consciousness, and respect.
